Project
Improving Quality of Life and Reducing Skin Cancer Risk with NASA Data on Climate Change
Project Goals
The project goal is to use publicly available NASA databases, leveraging the progressions provided by the VEMAP project, which forecasts changes in the ozone layer and UV radiation incidence until 2100. Based on this data, the goal is to create a projection of the probability of increased risk of developing skin cancer.
VEMAP 2: U.S. Daily Climate Change Scenarios
VEMAP Phase 2 developed a series of transitory climate change scenarios based on coupled atmosphere-ocean general circulation model (AOGCM) experiments. The aim of these scenarios is to reflect time-dependent changes in the surface climate of the AOGCMs in terms of (1) long-term trends and (2) changes in multi-year (3-5 years) variability to decadal variability, such as El Niño/Southern Oscillation (ENSO).
